Super Saw vs Stihl GTA 26: Which Mini Chainsaw Should You Buy? (2026)

The Stihl GTA 26 is the best-known brand-name mini pruning saw; the SuperSaw is a $149 direct-to-door alternative from SuperBrandTools. Here is how they compare on price, battery, what's in the box, where you buy them and what happens if you want to send one back.
Super Saw vs Stihl GTA 26 comes down to price and support: the SuperSaw is a $149 one-handed cordless mini chainsaw shipped free to your door by SuperBrandTools, while the Stihl GTA 26 is a 4-inch battery garden pruner from an established tool brand that costs about $180 to $200 as a set and is sold through Stihl dealers. Both are made for the same jobs: pruning, trimming branches and cutting small limbs. Neither is meant for felling trees.
The Stihl wins on brand backing, independent testing and dealer service. The Super Saw wins on price, delivery and a battery the brand rates for far longer runtime, though those runtime figures are the seller's own claims. Below we compare them point by point, using SuperBrandTools' checkout and policies, a US Stihl dealer's spec page, and Outdoor Life's hands-on mini chainsaw test. For the full verdict on our pick, see our Super Saw review.
A note on sources before we start. The Super Saw figures come from SuperBrandTools' own checkout and policies, which are marketing and legal documents rather than test results. The Stihl figures come from a US Stihl dealer's spec page, US retailer listings and Outdoor Life's hands-on test. That imbalance is itself part of the comparison: one saw has been put through measured cuts by an outside publication and the other has not. Where we only have the seller's word, we say so, and we have not added any numbers that neither source published.
Super Saw vs Stihl GTA 26 at a glance
Price: the SuperSaw was $149 for one on its checkout, $137 each for two and $133 each for three, with free standard shipping. US retailers list the Stihl GTA 26 set, with battery and charger, at about $179.99 to $199.99, and Outdoor Life's test listed it at $180.
Battery: the SuperSaw checkout shows a battery labeled 24V, and the brand rates it for up to 3 hours per charge on its main page. The Stihl GTA 26 runs on Stihl's 10.8V AS 2 battery, which a US Stihl dealer rates at up to 25 minutes of working time.
Bar and weight: the Stihl has a 4-inch guide bar and weighs 2.7 lbs without the battery and 3.1 lbs with it, per the dealer's spec sheet. SuperBrandTools' own pages give the SuperSaw's weight as 3 pounds in one place and just under 4 pounds in another, so check the manual if weight matters.
Where you buy: the SuperSaw is sold online from SuperBrandTools and shipped to your door. The Stihl dealer we checked listed the GTA 26 as "Talk to sales" and said it "must be picked up in-store per STIHL's sales policies".
Price and what's in the box
At $149 delivered, the SuperSaw is the cheaper buy by roughly $30 to $50, and the gap widens with multi-packs if you are buying for family. The box includes the saw, a lithium-ion battery, a wall charger and an accessories kit, according to our earlier read of the brand's landing page. When we wrote our review, the offer also included garden gloves, glasses and a $25 store credit; the checkout we loaded today did not list those gifts, so do not count on them. An optional 2-year protection plan was $27.
The Stihl GTA 26 set includes the battery, a charger, Stihl multi-oil and a transport bag, according to the US dealer page. Outdoor Life's testers singled out that soft case as a plus. Stihl also sells the GTA 26 without a battery and charger in some markets, so if you already own Stihl AS batteries, ask the dealer about the bare tool.
Runtime and cutting: claims vs a hands-on test
This is where the two are hardest to compare fairly. The Stihl GTA 26 has been tested independently. In Outdoor Life's mini chainsaw test it made 12 cuts on a charge and cut a 4-inch log in 14.2 seconds. The testers praised its light weight, ergonomics and nice soft case, but noted the battery died quickly and the chain tensioner was touchy.
We found no independent test of the SuperSaw. The brand says it uses a copper motor rated at 2,000 RPM and gives runtime as up to 3 hours per charge in one place, and up to 2 hours of hard use or 4 hours of mild use in another. Those are the seller's claims, and runtime on any mini chainsaw depends on the wood you cut, so treat them as a ceiling rather than a promise.
Practical takeaway: if you prune a few branches at a time, the Stihl's short working time is enough and it is a known quantity. If you want to clear a pile of brush in one session, the SuperSaw's larger battery is the more appealing claim, but you are trusting the brand's numbers. Either way, a second battery is the usual fix for long jobs.
Returns, warranty and support
The SuperSaw checkout advertises a "90-Day 100% Money Back Guarantee". SuperBrandTools' written refund policy is narrower: 30 days from the order date to request a return of an unused item in its original packaging, return postage and a $4.95 restocking fee on you, and no returns for batteries or power tools. Damaged or defective units are replaced free. Support is by phone at 1-855-556-9588, Monday to Thursday, 9am to 3pm Central, or by email at support@superbrandtools.com. Our is Super Saw legit guide goes through those terms line by line.
With the Stihl, your support is the dealer you bought it from. Because the GTA 26 is sold and picked up in-store, you have a person to take it back to for setup, service and warranty questions. We did not find Stihl's US return or warranty terms for the GTA 26 on the dealer page we checked, so ask your dealer before you buy. For most buyers, that local support is the main reason to pay more.
Ease of use and safety features
Both are one-handed saws with a short bar, built so a homeowner can trim overhead branches or reach into a shrub without wrestling a full-size chainsaw. Outdoor Life rated the Stihl highly for ergonomics and safety, and the dealer page notes an LED charge display, rubber grips and a design that minimizes wrist torsion.
SuperBrandTools describes the SuperSaw as a single-trigger tool you charge from a wall outlet, with no gas, oil mixing or pull cord. It makes no specific safety claims, and neither do we: with any chainsaw, read the owner's manual before your first cut, wear gloves and eye protection, and keep both the saw and the branch steady.
Who each mini chainsaw suits
The Super Saw suits a homeowner who wants one cheap, cordless tool for the yard and does not already own a battery platform. You order it online, it arrives in about 7 to 10 business days according to SuperBrandTools' shipping policy, and you charge it from a wall outlet. It also suits anyone buying for more than one person, because the two-pack and three-pack bring the price down to $137 and $133 a saw. It suits people less well if they want a store to walk a tool back to: the written refund policy excludes power tools once you have used one.
The Stihl GTA 26 suits gardeners who already run Stihl AS-system tools, buyers who want a saw that a major outdoor magazine has actually put through cuts, and anyone who prefers to see a tool in person before paying for it. The dealer setup cuts both ways: you get advice and service at the counter, but you cannot simply order it to your door, and the set costs more. Its short working time also means it is best for a few branches at a time rather than an afternoon of brush clearing, unless you buy a spare battery.
If neither fits, Outdoor Life's test also covered larger one-handed saws such as the Milwaukee M18 Hatchet and DeWalt's 8-inch pruning saw, which cut faster but cost more and weigh more. For most backyard pruning, though, the choice really is between a cheaper direct-to-door saw and a pricier dealer-backed one, which is exactly the Super Saw vs Stihl GTA 26 decision.
Not to be confused with other Super Saws or other Stihl pruners
Several products share these names. The SuperSaw in this comparison is the cordless mini chainsaw sold by SuperBrandTools. Look-alike mini chainsaws on Walmart and Newegg from other sellers sometimes use Super Saw in their titles, and the Milwaukee Super Sawzall is a reciprocating saw from Milwaukee Tool; neither is the same product or company as SuperBrandTools.
Stihl is a separate company from SuperBrandTools, and the two have no connection. The GTA 26 is specifically Stihl's small 4-inch garden pruner, not one of its full-size chainsaws. If you see a Stihl-branded mini saw far below dealer prices on a marketplace, check the seller.
Which should you buy?
Choose the Stihl GTA 26 if you want an independently tested, brand-name pruner, already own Stihl AS batteries, or value a local dealer for service. It costs more, is picked up in-store and has a short working time per battery, but you know what you are getting.
Choose the Super Saw if price and convenience lead: $149 delivered free, cheaper multi-packs and a battery the brand rates for hours rather than minutes. Go in knowing that the runtime is a claim, the written return policy excludes power tools, and its seller's reviews are weak.
