How We Test & Review
The process behind every score, verdict, and recommendation on TopCrate.
Our evaluation process
Every review starts with research: we study the product's official specifications and claims, the manufacturer's documentation, and large volumes of verified buyer feedback to understand how it performs in real homes — not just in marketing copy. Where possible we use products hands-on; where we can't, we say so plainly and rely on aggregated owner experience, spec-level comparison against alternatives, and expert sources.
How scoring works
The verdict score (out of 10) weighs five things: does the product do what it claims, build quality and reliability, value for money against alternatives, ease of use, and how satisfied long-term owners actually are. Star ratings shown alongside reviews reflect aggregate buyer sentiment. We never fabricate figures — if we can't back a number, we don't show one.
What we won't do
Brands can't pay for a review, a score, or a ranking — our only revenue is affiliate commissions paid by retailers after you choose to buy, which never changes what you pay (see our disclosure). We keep health-related claims aligned with what products are actually marketed to do, and our content is never a substitute for medical advice — talk to a doctor about health conditions.
Updates and corrections
Products change, prices move, and better information emerges. We refresh reviews over time — updating facts, FAQs, and verdicts — and each page carries its publish and last-updated dates in our structured data. If you spot something wrong, tell usand we'll fix it.
