Terra Grounding Sheet vs Earthing: Cotton Sheet vs Mattress Cover, Price, Returns and Which to Buy (2026)

Terra is an organic-cotton fitted sheet with woven silver thread from The Grounding Co; Earthing (EarthFX, Inc.) sells a conductive mattress cover and sleep mat built on Clint Ober's designs. We compare prices by size, materials, the 90-night and 45-day return policies, and say plainly where Earthing is the better buy.
Terra grounding sheet vs Earthing comes down to what you want on your bed: Terra is a soft organic-cotton fitted sheet with silver thread woven through it, while Earthing's main bedroom products are a thin conductive mattress cover and a one-size sleep mat that sit over or under the sheet you already own. Both plug into the ground port of a wall outlet, both make wellness claims that go further than the research, and they come from two different companies.
We checked both stores in November 2026: The Grounding Co's Terra product page and refund policy at thegrounding.co, and Earthing's product pages and refund policy at earthing.com. Below are the prices by size, what each is made of, how the returns really work, and who should buy which. For our full verdict on the sheet itself, read our Terra grounding sheet review.
Terra vs Earthing at a glance
Terra is sold by The Grounding Co. It is a fitted sheet in seven sizes from Single to California King, listed as 95% organic premium cotton and 5% conductive silver, in Ivory Gray, White or Warm Olive. It comes with a cord for US outlets, and international orders get a plug adapter. Single-sheet prices run from $99.95 to $169.95, and the trial is a 90-night satisfaction guarantee counted from delivery.
Earthing is the brand of EarthFX, Inc., the company that credits Clint Ober with introducing modern grounding. Its bedroom range includes the Earthing Mattress Cover ($114.99 to $144.99 by size), the Earthing Sleep Mat ($89.99, one size) and pillow covers, each listed "with Free Product Tester" where shown. Earthing offers 45-day returns from the order date and free US shipping over $99.
In short: Terra wins if you want the grounding built into a real cotton sheet with a long trial. Earthing wins on price in the larger sizes, on its claim of a longer-lasting material, and on brand history.
Terra grounding sheet vs Earthing: price by size
The Grounding Co's store listed these Terra single-sheet prices: $99.95 for a Single, $139.95 for a Twin or Twin XL, $149.95 for a Full, $159.95 for a Queen and $169.95 for a King or California King. The crossed-out "regular" prices beside them, $249.90 to $424.90, are reference figures, not what people pay.
Earthing's Mattress Cover was $114.99 in Twin, $119.99 in Twin XL or Full, $134.99 in Queen and $144.99 in King or California King, again with crossed-out figures about double that. The Earthing Sleep Mat, which can lie across any size of bed, was $89.99, and the Earthing Universal Mat Kit started at $59.99. Earthing also listed holiday bundles, such as a Universal Mat and Sleep Mat for $129.
So size for size, Earthing's mattress cover undercuts Terra by $20 to $25 in Twin to King, and the Sleep Mat is cheaper than any Terra sheet. Terra pushes back with promotions: when we checked, an "Early Black Friday" offer gave Buy 1 Get 1 Free, or Buy 2 Get 1 Free plus a free Terra Grounding Mat listed as a $69.95 value. The per-sheet bundle figures on the page matched the Single-size price, so larger sizes cost more; check your cart before paying. Terra ships free over $100; Earthing ships free in the US over $99.
Materials and feel: silver-thread cotton vs a conductive cover
This is the biggest real difference. Terra is bedding first. You fit it over your mattress like any fitted sheet (the brand says over your regular sheet works too), and the silver grid is woven into cotton, so it feels like an ordinary sheet. Care is machine wash warm and tumble dry low, with no bleach, oils or fabric softener, and the brand says it stays soft after 100 wash cycles.
Earthing describes its Mattress Cover as a "proprietary grounding material", thin, "100% conductive", easy to clean and very durable, and says it can go over or under your fitted sheet. Its product page says Clint Ober designed it after customers asked for a sleep option "that would last longer than silver-threaded grounding sheet[s]". That is Earthing's claim, not something we tested, but it is a fair point to weigh: silver thread in a cotton sheet can wear with washing, and Terra's own care rules exist to protect it.
If you want the grounding layer to disappear into normal bedding, Terra feels more like a sheet. If you would rather keep your own sheets and add a thin conductive layer, Earthing's cover or one-size Sleep Mat is the simpler route.
Returns and guarantees: Terra's 90 nights vs Earthing's 45 days
Terra's 90-night satisfaction guarantee starts on delivery, but you must use the sheet for at least 30 nights before claiming. You then email admin@thegrounding.co before day 90. The policy refunds 30% once your photos are reviewed and 70% when the parcel arrives, you pay return shipping, and original shipping is not refunded. Free bonus items, such as a promotional mat, must come back with the order or their retail price is deducted. Our guide to whether the Terra grounding sheet is legit walks through the whole policy and the Trustpilot complaints.
Earthing's policy promises a full product refund if you are not satisfied within 45 days of your order date. Every return needs an RMA number, and the policy also says items must be returned within 30 days of the RMA being issued. You pay return shipping, original shipping is refunded only for a manufacturer defect, clearance items are final sale, and promotional footwear given free cannot be returned. The policy notes a one-year manufacturer's warranty.
Terra gives you a longer window and counts it from delivery rather than the order date, which matters if shipping is slow. Earthing's refund is a single full product refund rather than a staged one, with no 30-night minimum. Both put return postage on you.
Terra and Earthing are different companies
Because "earthing" is also the generic name for grounding, search results blur the two. Terra is made and sold by The Grounding Co at thegrounding.co. Earthing is a separate business, EarthFX, Inc., at earthing.com. They are different companies with different products, prices and policies, and reviews of one do not apply to the other.
There is a third name to watch: grounding.co, without "the", is another separate site selling grounding sheets and mats under its own Trustpilot profile. If you are buying Terra, check that the address bar says thegrounding.co. And don't confuse any of these with silver-infused cooling sheets; our Miracle Sheets review covers sheets that use silver for freshness and are not plugged into anything.
What both brands claim, and what the evidence supports
Both connect to the ground port of a grounded wall outlet, the round hole that carries no current, and both say grounding supports sleep, stress, energy and recovery. The Terra page quotes a pilot study in which 11 of 12 people fell asleep faster over eight weeks. Earthing's site says there are "42+ Earthing Studies" and credits the field's modern research to Clint Ober in the US and Drs. Karol and Pawel Sokal in Poland.
The honest summary is the same for both: the research is mostly small studies, and neither brand's footer claims a medical effect. Earthing's site advises anyone on blood-thinning medication or with a pacemaker to talk to a healthcare provider first, and Terra's disclaimer gives similar advice for pacemakers and medical implants. Buy either as a comfort and sleep experiment, judged on your own nights, not as medical care.
Who should buy Terra, and who should buy Earthing
Choose Earthing if price per size is the deciding factor, if you want to keep your current sheets, if you like the idea of a material its maker says outlasts silver thread, or if brand history matters to you. The $89.99 Sleep Mat is the cheapest way into sleeping grounded from either company.
Choose Terra if you want the grounding built into a soft organic-cotton fitted sheet in a color you like, and you value a 90-night trial counted from delivery. Its sale bundles also make a second sheet or a mat much cheaper while they run. For a third option from another company, our Heal Naturally grounding sheet review covers a rival cotton sheet.
